Abigail Herrera Vice President
I am originally from California but have called Indiana home for over 25 years. I am a mother, wife, local business owner, and practicing nurse. My passion for sharing my culture began when I joined a Mexican Folklorico dance group with whom I performed at various events across Indiana for 19 years. After retiring from performing, I became fascinated with traveling to other countries to immerse myself in the culture, try traditional foods, and learn regional history.
As a member of this organization, my intention is to cultivate learning experiences that promote culture and traditions to our local Latino and non-Latino communities.

Eduardo Martinez Financial Chair
I was born in Torreón, Mexico and my family immigrated to the United States when I was seven. While I quickly adapted to the local culture and language, my parents encouraged us to read and speak Spanish at home. I served a two-year mission in Spanish for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Southern California. I worked full-time while attending Utah State University graduating, with a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources and a minor in Spanish. My career brought me to Indianapolis in 2013 and I met my wife a year later. I’ve volunteered as a leader in the Boy Scouts of America as well as various leadership positions in my church. My wife and I have three children who attend the Spanish immersion program in Lawrence Township. I believe sharing our culture helps to bridge gaps and foster a more tightly knit community.
